Martina Griewank Ambrózio
Martina Griewank/R. Ambrozio, of German roots, received a Bachelor of dance at the Royal Conservatory Artesis (BE) and postgraduate studies at Marchepied (CH). During her Bachelor studies she began working at Ballet Preljocaj in France and Jan Martens in “I can ride a horse whilst juggling so Marry me”. Then she worked amongst others with Jaco Van Dormael, Ambyer Meyntiens, Caroline De Haese and Dieter Defurne, She began working with the young audiences, in the dance-puppet collaboration Stiltwalker and on a second piece Road obstruction by Natgras (BE). Both piqued her interest in young audience pieces through the curiosity and honesty of the children.
Alongside her work as a dancer and maker Martina is an experienced producer in the cultural sector, she directed the intensive course for contemporary dance performers Performact in Torres Vedras from 2016 to 2024. There, her responsibilities ranged from administrative duties, financial supervision to artistic coaching of the students and yoga lessons. Her interest for production began with her work with Untamed Productions (BE) and Summer Intensive festival (PT), which she also co-directed.
Since 2024, she has been part of the board of Associação Cultural Collective Movement, a multidisciplinary organisation that promotes cultural and intergenerational encounters in rural contexts. In 2024 and 2025, she served as an expert for the European Commission, evaluating applications for the Creative Europe programme.
She is regularly invited to collaborate on partnership projects, namely with Companhia Bolha and Teatro-Cine de Torres Vedras in the project Centrífugo, and with the artist Susana Quaresma / Ass. Corpo Sonoro for the co-creation of the staged tale Ana Mar.
Her own creations, GALOCHAS and F(OLHA)/Leave, which premiered in March last year, continue to tour. In her work, she combines interactive elements with artistic abstraction, advocating that a certain level of abstraction within the narrative allows each child’s and adult's creativity to thrive.
